March 2020 – Inspiration

Don’t know why but i hit a wall with the build, if i am honest i was ready to give up, the rust was relentless the weather was crap it was cold and wet and i basically had enough….didnt see a way forward so decided to cover her over and walk away, go on holiday and enjoy Christmas without even thinking about the van…..

One of the presents from family was a model of a bloody T25 just as a reminder of how i was about to fail…. i put it on a shelf and tried to forget about that one too until one day i got out my glue and paints and made the basic out the box model….boring!!

I then actually purchased another one with my own money and decided to build this one as i wanted the real one to eventually be and started to get some ideas and inspiration about carrying on, i finished it and in my opinion it looked bloody brilliant, i know it was just a model but i think seeing it finished in the colour and design i was hoping for in the real world really spurred me on to crack on….AGAIN!! with the real project…..when the weather improves anyway

April 2019 – Front Step and Sills Part 2

It has now been quite a while getting back to this, i didn’t completely walk away i practiced my welding and read up a lot on this van, searched forums, joined groups and asked many many questions, finally getting the feeling back to carry on, in all accounts this area of the sliding door inner and outer sill was a pretty bad area to tackle and more so for me as this was my first restoration, i took so many measurements and pictures to hopefully get it back as it should be, these are maybe a tenth of the pictures taken.

August 2018 – Passenger Front Step Part 1

After tackling the front end and starting my welding journey it was time to see how bad the front step was……Bad, i stripped out the step and as much as i needed to get to good metal…….that was a long way as it wasn’t just the step it was the arch the B pillar and into the inner and outer sills, i started to wonder about how deep this was going to go and if i was capable of doing it, after stripping out the rot as far as i dare (because this was looking way more involved than i expected) i left it at that stripped and bare, i didn’t lose interest as such i just needed to regroup and walk away for a while to either get help or learn a whole lot more….. this was part one of the step……for now!!!
